A nice hobby!

This gorgeous Hobby came in to us as an underweight very late juvenile. He was found sitting still and a bit confused, in a kind member of the public's garden.

Hobbys are migratory birds and need to leave England at the same time as the swallows, swifts and house martins do, on their trek to Africa where they spend the winter. These small birds are actually the Hobby's packed lunch for the journey! When they stay in England during the summer they also like to eat dragon flies!

It is really important to get him flying and up to the right weight in time for the migration in late September, otherwise he would have to stay with us for the winter and he would risk feather damage, believe it or not from the frost!

*Updated - video of his release last month added! - What a wonderful release! Good luck for your journey little chap!
