Joyce Tibbets - Vet
Joyce has been a vet for the Wildlife Aid Foundation since its very early beginnings, even before it became a registered charity. As such, she has been here longer than almost anyone else and has seen massive changes at the charity over the years.
Joyce is very much a realist and of Wildlife Aid, she says:
'I have been coming to Wildlife Aid for so long, it is almost like a habit that I can't break!
I suppose the main reason why I come is really to ensure that we keep to the charity's charter and that each animal is properly assessed to make sure it can lead a full life if released back to the wild. Wildlife Aid does not believe that any wild animal should be kept in captivity, no matter how well meaning the motives. I completely agree with this, and those animals that are too ill or injured to ever be returned are humanely and painlessly put to sleep. This way they are given the dignity of a peaceful end in warm and quiet surroundings.
I also believe that our wildlife was here before us and we have a responsibility to try to keep a better balance between man and nature. By returning animals back to the wild, where they should be, Wildlife Aid is playing its part in the uphill struggle of helping us achieve that.'
