Wildlife SOS
Wildlife Aid - The Wildlife SOS scheme
Wildlife Aid help redress the rebalance in nature through
their wildlife SOS teams. Wildlife Aid is dedicated to rescue,
care and rehabilitation of sick, injured or orphaned wildlife.
Our wildlife SOS charity is dedicated to preserving the UK’s
native animals.
Every year millions of our native animals are killed, injured
or suffer trauma, either as a result of or direct contact
with man, or from the impact we have on the environment. Our
wildlife SOS team tries to help preserve our heritage for
future generations.
There are plenty of organisations that deal with the preservation
of wildlife’s natural habitat however there are very
few that actually deal with the animals that live within them.
Our wildlife SOS team believe that every native wild animal,
no matter what it is, deserves treatment if it is sick, injured
or orphaned.
Wildlife SOS is not just about caring for sick animals but
also about making people aware of the impact they are having
on our wildlife. Would you like your child to wake up and
not hear a bird singing or to go to a pond and see no ducks
there? Wildlife SOS is also about making people aware of environment
issues that affect us all.
Unlike some organisations we do not believe that animals
should be kept in captivity, our aim is to release the animals
back into the wild. Our wildlife SOS team will treat and rehabilitate
animals that come into our care completely free of charge.
We aim to return every animal back to the wild and we have
an exceptionally good record of doing this. Unfortunately,
there are some cases when animals come in for wildlife SOS
care and can’t be treated. So regrettably and heartbreakingly,
we allow such animal the dignity of a peaceful and pain free
death in a warm and comfortable environment.
This is only ever a last resort of the wildlife SOS team.
If they feel there is a chance that an animal will survive,
our wildlife SOS team will show great determination and care,
we have seen remarkable recoveries where others might have
given up.
We aim to provide as much support as possible; as a centre
of excellence, we receive thousands of phone calls, letters
and emails asking for advice and help. Our wildlife SOS team
tries to be as helpful as possible and offer advice where
necessary. We believe that through wildlife SOS we can preserve
our native wildlife and ensure it is here for our future generations
to enjoy. |
