Over the winter months we are taking on a sizeable building project which will make a significant improvement to the smooth running of the main hospital.  With the volume of patients arriving every day we find ourselves needing more room to house and treat every patient and so have looked to find a way to maximise the treatment areas within the main hospital building.

We are therefore going to erect a new building on the site of some old pens which we were lucky enough to be able to replace earlier this year in a new position, thanks in part to a very kind legacy donation from one of our supporters.  Visitors to this year's Open Day will have seen the new pens, and I hope you'll agree they are fantastic!

so....the new building will take the reception area and the office out of the main hospital and into a separate building, with better access for members of the public bringing in casualties.  We also have enough space to include a small meeting room/office so that we will have more administration facilities and also be able to meet with potential sponsors and supporters.

We can then renovate the main hospital.  We will move and expand the main treatment room, where we deal with all treatments, operations, and urgent casualties.  The orphan room will also be more isolated to provide a quieter environment, allowing better facilities and access for feeding the hundreds of hungry mouths that arrive in orphan season.

The cost of this building project will be in two phases, the new building will be somewhere in the region of £35,000, once built then the current hospital will be renovated at a cost of about £12,000.

We are having to fund this from our reserves but it would help us enormously if we could raise the money separately for the building work as, with the recession likely to continue and perhaps worsen in the years ahead, we need to safeguard as much of our reserves as possible.
