Adopt a Pigeon
There is an estimated 18 million pigeons in the UK. Pigeons are highly sociable animals and actually mate for life. Sadly, an estimated 3 million are killed, each year.
Throughout the world, people live side-by-side with pigeons, sharing the countryside, gardens, parks, sidewalks, and other outhouses and lofts that pigeons have occupied.
And whilst animal lovers across the country have learnt to co-exist with their common feathered neighbours, many still consider the pigeon to be vermin and, as a result, these birds continue to be mistreated and vilified.
In our towns and cities, pigeons can often be the only contact with nature that a person may have, and these interactions play an important role in developing empathy and understanding of the natural world and, as such, are important in cultural services within societies.

How your adoption will help
At WAF, pigeons are one of our more ‘frequent’ patients. We admitted nearly 2,000 pigeons into our hospital every year. The most common issues we treat are cat attacks, road accidents, being shot, disease, and orphaned chicks. We will never turn away any wild animal in need and our expert team will do all they can to give these pigeons a second chance in the wild.
Your adoption will help us to continue to look after the many pigeons that come through our doors, each year.
Adoptions are for a period of one year from the date you choose to start. We aim to send all packs within 5 to 7 days of receiving the order.
Please allow up to 7 working days for delivery, or 10 working days during peak season. Please note, all parcels are sent via Royal Mail for international orders. You can adopt an animal for yourself or for someone else.
When ordering your adoption, you can choose to have the pack sent either to yourself or to the gift recipient.
Please note, we recycle and reuse our packaging materials.
