We see a lot of buzzards at Wildlife Aid, but very few arrive coated in mud!
This messy bird was transferred to our centre from a vets practice on Christmas Eve 2017 after they had held it for three days without knowing how to treat it. Its primary flight feathers were glued to its body and it was struggling to breath, let alone fly.
Maru, our vet, rushed it in for an emergency bath and spent over an hour carefully removing the mud from the birds feathers. It was carefully dried and the process was repeated several times until we were sure all the mud was removed.
After a long period of feather rehabilitation, the bird was finally ready to go back to the wild!
