Rescue

With the red fox breeding season now here, territorial fighting injuries are becoming a much more common sight.

This female arrived with us recently with bite injuries to her rump. It seemed she had previously suffered an abscess as a result of the bite, which had since burst, leaving a large wound that needed urgent treatment.

Rehabilitation

Luckily, on assessment, she had escaped quite lightly! Her wound was cleaned and covered in a special hydrocolloid dressing which provides a moist and insulating environment to help the wound to heal.

Following her surgery, she was moved into a pen for recovery. This may take some time for her injuries to heal, but we will do our very best to give her a second chance!
