Starving heron nursed back to health

This year saw a spike in calls to weak or malnourished animals after the intense heat of the summer and this heron was one of the unfortunate victims.

Simon was called to a heron that appeared not to be able to fly. The homeowner had shut it in a greenhouse on advice of another rescue centre, but we needed to take a look to see what was wrong.

After an easy catch, it was rushed back to the centre to see Sarah, one of our vets. Although very thin, it had no physical injuries and was able to be released after a bit of food and R&R!
