Open Day – Gangnam Style!

The sun shone…boy did it shine…all day! The Pimms flowed, the BBQ sizzled and the cakes sold like…well hot cakes!
Bounteous books and bric-a-brac were bought. Lovingly tended plants and carefully created crafts found the new homes they deserved….and there was some dancing!!!
We hope every valued visitor had a great time and that you enjoyed your hospital tours, participating in all the fun and games and rummaging for special purchases and bargains. Many thanks to all those who donated the items for sale, raffle and auction, or cooked, entertained, danced and informed. Huge gratitude goes to all our amazing staff and volunteers who put in so much effort in planning and preparations and sweated blood on the day (not to mention the clear up to follow!). A special mention must go to Mr Fox and Mr Badger who danced and danced and danced through the heat of the day. Thank goodness Simon had his Annual Good Idea and arranged for two hoses with nozzles set on fine mist to be set up to cool everyone off…they were lifesavers! It was great to meet and thank in person WAF mega-supporters including Georgia Piesse-Mills (who has raised money with a sponsored walk and donated birthday cash), Cesca Ryder (who will do a sponsored Welsh Wander around the entire Welsh coastal path) and Myra Freeman Kinghorn (who has donated so many items from our appeals and also helped out on both Saturday and Sunday).
Those who left early to watch a bit of history being made up the road at SW19 missed a historic, heroic and hysterical Massed WAF Gangnam Style! …and there was still time to catch that agonising final game and to celebrate both a British win and the WAF winning team’s job well done!
