How did this HEDGEHOG get stuck in a garage door?!

We’ve seen many things at Wildlife Aid, but this particular rescue proved to be another first for Simon!

We were recently called out to rescue a hedgehog that had become stuck in a garage door. Once we arrived it became clear that this was going to be far from easy – the hedgehog had become wedged in a gap just 1 inch wide!

Although getting the frightened animal out was very tricky for Simon, the hedgehog had another problem… The trauma of the door had resulted in ‘pop off syndrome’ – where the orbicularis muscle (usually used to let them curl up) slipped over the top of the pelvis and was stuck on the poor hogs back. Now it was down to Maru to give it that all-important second chance back in the wild…
