Whilst we take in a large number of orphaned young animals every year, we do our best to get as many as we can back to their parents where possible. Sometimes, this can leave us with some very difficult decisions and walking away can be both frightening and worrying.
We recently recovered a young fox cub from an alley in Leatherhead. The area was completely enclosed, with only a small hole leading to the outside world. After following the hole into a neighbouring garden, we found a fresh fox earth that had to have been where the cub came from.
Although we checked the area for activity before releasing the cub, it is always a difficult call to finally walk away…
